Hven is an island in the Strait of Öresund, between Denmark and Sweden. Hven is three miles long, and was home to Tycho Brahe during the late 16th Century. Tycho Brahe was one of the last astronomers not to use a telescope, and he charted the heavens with unprecedented accuracy. He built a large house and an below ground observatory called Stjerneborg, meaning “Castle of the Stars,” on Hven. Stjerneborg has been excavated and somewhat restored.
