I laugh at this, but if I had the time and the disposable income I might just do something like this…

On Saturday, June 16 my mom and Mary came down to visit, then they took me back to Salt Lake to pick up our new minivan, a white 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan.

George really likes it, Bridget thinks it’s “a smooth ride,” and I think it’s pretty nice too.  The only real problem we’ve had so far is that it has a coolant leak  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s just a bad hose.

On Monday we drove up to Salt Lake to have my father-in-law do the annual state safety inspection on our car.  He noticed that there was a loose part on the right front wheel.  The plan was for him to order a part and have us come back up tomorrow to have him install it.  On the way home Monday night the car started making a groaning noise whenever the steering wheel was turned.  Once he found out about that he told us not to drive the car up.

My mom found out about this and contacted a man she knows who owns a small car lot.  He has found us a decent minivan, so my mom and her friend Mary are coming down tomorrow to visit, then they’ll take me to Salt Lake to pick up the minivan and drive it home.  I’m not really thrilled about the prospect of driving a minivan, but I’ll be glad to have a vehicle that isn’t falling apart.
